Company History

The BENETEAU® brand dates back to 1884 in a French port city known as Croix-de-Vie. Benjamin Beneteau started a boatyard and kickstarted the company’s journey. The first boats he built were rugged and catered to fishermen. He balanced his artisan craftsmanship with innovation and functionality. In the early 1900s, Benjamin introduced the first engine-powered fishing boat in his geographical area. 

 

From that point, the name began to grow and evolve. In the 1970s, the company transitioned from crafting fishing boats to recreational boats that were primarily made for enjoyment instead of work. This shift allowed them to gain more popularity and enter the global market.
